What is Hapkido?
Hapkido is a "soft" martial art compared to "hard" forms such as Karate and Taekwondo. It employs a defensive philosophy: control and redirect force rather than meeting it head-on.
The Hapkido practitioner, working from a defensive posture, can defend against aggressive attacks using hands, footwork, and timing. The goal is to control an opponent through locks, throws, strikes used in context, and circular movement — not to rely on brute strength alone.
Training develops balance, spatial awareness, and calm under pressure. Students of all ages can benefit because techniques are adapted to the individual.
